An old fashioned but potentially good story struggles unsuccessfully to get out from under bad direction and worse film editing. A good cast is headed by Lionel Atwill, Steve Geray and the miscast Lucie Mannerheim. But they can't save this one. James Mason appears in a supporting role. Except for the last five minutes dull as dust. What could have been a spicy dish of tropical passion turns out to be a bowl of lukewarm British porridge. The print is soft but watchable.
